New Penalty for Missing ECTN Certificate for Shipments to Djibouti

Please be informed that Djibouti authorities have introduced a penalty for shipments arriving without a valid ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note) certificate.

As per regulations effective June 15, 2023, all cargo discharged in Djibouti must have an approved ECTN prior to arrival. Shipments without it are now subject to fines as well as clearance delays.

To avoid penalties:

• Ensure the ECTN is obtained and validated before the cargo arrives at the port.
• We recommend starting the process at least five days before vessel departure.
