Pre-validation Required for Gabon BIETC Certificate
Dear Valued Business Partner,
Since August 1st, 2024 it has been mandatory for the BIETC certificate to be submitted for prior validation before the vessel’s departure.
We would kindly like to bring to your attention and remind you of a critical update regarding Gabon’s BIETC certificate as some are not following the regulations leading to delays, hefty fines, and tainting your business’s reputation.
The BIETC certificate must be pre-validated before the vessel departs. This regulation change means that the certificate can no longer be validated by prior agreement after the vessel has departed. To comply with this new requirement, it is essential to obtain the draft copy of the BIETC certificate well in advance.
Example of actual draft BIETC certificate:

Please ensure that the BIETC is presented for approval before the ship’s departure to avoid any potential delays or penalties. The responsibility for acquiring the BIETC certificate lies with the shipper or the freight forwarder.
